Dear Hamlet Community
As highlighted in the Spring edition of the Fire Place (pdf version attached), our community newsletter, this year marks the 80th anniversary of the Brookhaven Village Association’s stewardship of Squassux Landing—a vital piece of our Hamlet’s natural and cultural heritage.
To protect this treasured place, the Town of Brookhaven is reviewing plans to install a low sill bulkhead along Arthur’s Creek and the Carmans River—our Shoreline Preservation Project. The Town is requesting letters of support from the community to help move the project forward. Years in development under the advisement of environmental consultants, this initiative now needs your voice. Your support can make a real difference.
Even if you’ve never set foot on a boat, Squassux is a treasure that belongs to all of us in the Hamlet—a sanctuary of natural beauty and a living testament to our shared history, quietly holding the stories of generations past and future. It asks only for our care in return. We invite you and all Hamlet residents to join us in preserving this sacred place.
